Baseball is finally over! Now we can finally get to some good sports like the remainder of the seasons for the NFL and college football and the beginning of the NBA, NHL, and college basketball seasons. I love baseball. I think the game itself is superior to any game out there. There's so many games within the game and so much strategy involved that most sports fans can't comprehend that sets it apart. The problem isn't the game, it's the product. Now how can that be? Simple. Baseball is the game. MLB is the product. Major League Baseball is horrible. Each year we have the same thing where everyone is excited when the season begins and within two months it's old news and boring. We get to the World Series and it's exciting for the two cities involved, but that's it. Unlike any other sport, baseball is more exciting at the beginning of the season than at the end of the season; and that's not a good thing.
Every other one of the four major sports have great products that are celebrated at the end of the season. Baseball, not so much. Baseball is just like a video game that basically only has roster updates. Everyone knows the feeling. Each year a new baseball game comes out and we're all excited because we haven't got to play the game in awhile. You know the game wasn't that good last year, but you think maybe this year it will be different. You read about the updates it's made and think maybe this is the year. You decide you are going to buy it and this is the one you've been looking for. At the beginning the game seems great. There's a few cosmetic changes and some roster updates. You play it for a couple of weeks and then realize that it's the same old crap you've been playing for years past and nothing has changed. Baseball is this. It's the never ending story of a crappy game that never gets a new engine and new gets improved. We get roster updates and a few other changes, but other than that the product never gets better. The NFL is like baseball this year. It's a crappy product with just a handful of great or good teams and the rest suck. The NFL is basically Madden NFL 06 for Xbox 360 this year. It was a bad game that looked good. The next year and the year's after it got better and better and returned to a great product. The same will happen for the NFL. Baseball will never have this change. If the MLB continues to produce it's product this way than fans that run out every year to get their game will finally see that the game isn't worth it anymore.
