When the Denver Broncos traded down, then down, then down, then back up to the 25th spot to draft Tim Tebow we were all shocked. We knew Tebow would get probably get drafted in the 2nd round, but we sure didn't expect him to go in the first round perfect Jimmy Clausen and probably not even before Colt McCoy.
That's part of the reason I love the draft; you never know what to expect.
There is so much drama involved; excitement and mixed emotions at the same time. Some of the picks we felt were reaches and some of the picks we felt were steals. Tebow definitely felt like a reach pick.
Immediately after the Broncos grabbed Curt Henning we heard the same phrase over and over, which in same shape or form consisted of "I can't believe the Denver Broncos drafted Tebow at that spot, but I hope he does great."
What every analyst is basically saying is this pick was horrible; Tim's a great guy, so I hope he does well, but I don't think he will. Can everyone be anymore faker?
Does anyone really want any of the players who get drafted to fail? Do we really hope the players with better character succeed and the players that have had disciplinary problems fail? I don't feel like most people feel this way towards these young men. Maybe if it's a player that is a rival to our favorite college football team or a player that you have a personal vendetta against for some reason then you would want them to be mediocre at best in the NFL, but other than that I don't think anyone really hopes that Tim Tebow does better then Dez Bryant just based on their character.
We all want Tim Tebow to fail. Unless you are one of the few people who were swooned by his charm or you're one of the skeptics that feels he truly will be a starting quarterback in the league then you don't want him to succeed.
There's only one thing we care about when evaluating players, which is that we were right about them all along. Nobody is saying, "Awesome, I was completely wrong about this guy. I'm an idiot." Everyone wants to be the knowledgeable person who had the ESP to see the end result of the player.
Go ahead and lie to yourself and pretend that since Tim Tebow is such a perfect person that you want him to be the greatest quarterback ever. I know the truth and you know that truthfully you want him to fail too.
So sorry Tim I hope you fail. Not so I can prove you wrong, but just for the fact that I can prove I'm right.
